This week we have been processing an appeal letter/ministry update (actually a series of five letters) and we’re getting more efficient in producing them. Since during the summer our office is closed on Monday and Friday, the same amount of work gets squeezed into three days, so the efficiency is borne out of necessity.

I got the text for the first letter from Dr. Bierle last Thursday, and did a first pass of editing/tweaking and sent it back to him for final approval. I got his revisions/approval the following Tuesday, along with the alternate versions of the letter (tailored to communicate more specifically to various segments of our constituency). Then I did the layout for each letter with photos; then printed and folded so they are ready for the volunteers who come in and assemble the mailings for us. Our volunteers are dear souls with hearts for the Gospel and for this ministry, AND they provide valuable labor which saves the ministry time and money. They got this mailing assembled in a single day and it’s ready to go to the post office today.

I will be posting the letter on the Web site as soon as it goes to the post office, and will add a link when it’s available so you can read it here.

Other things going on my “to do” list this week include:

  • Modify two versions of the PowerPoint® presentation of FaithSearch Discovery for duplication
  • Prepare my office for the move coming up at the end of August (more about that later)
  • Create a new version of the ministry Web site for launch coincident with the move. I’m hoping to make it simpler and more effective; to take advantage of new capabilities in cascading style sheets; and to make it flexible for viewing on mobile devices. (This is forcing me to learn new technologies and to appreciate even more the recently donated iMac computer and complete software package of Adobe Creative Suite!)
  • Design and layout a cover for the French translation of the book Surprised by Faith so we can get it printed and into circulation.

As you may note by the date of this post, I am running out of week before I run out of things to do. That is not uncommon around here! 🙂 I appreciate your prayers as all of us work hard to make this ministry of proclaiming the Gospel with evidence grow and reach even more people. Thank you for your interest in my ministry.
