Where Did the Summer Go?

Let it be said that it has been a busy summer. Already it’s fall: the leaves are bursting into a bright palette of color; the air is nippy at night; the kids are back in school; and the NFL season is in full swing. We at FaithSearch were on partial hours this summer to keep payroll costs down, and there was more than enough work to do during the remaining time. Now we’re back to full time, and it seems the work has expanded even more!

I just want to let you know that I’m still here and that we are still proclaiming the Gospel with evidence. Witness a couple of projects I’m slowly but surely ushering toward completion… Continue reading

Two down…

Well, the “busy week” continues, but I have at least managed to complete three of the tasks I had before me. We got the first version of our calendar year-end letter out last week; the new phone system was installed this week (still some adjustments to be made); and I finished about ninety hours of video editing to produce a commemorative DVD of our 2012 Benefit Dinner. I just dropped it off to be duplicated so now all we have to do is wait for it. We’re sending one out to each donor, so look for yours in a couple of weeks. It was fun to revisit the presentations, and to enjoy our hilarity provided by our emcee, the very funny star of Triple Espresso, Mr. Bob Stromberg.

Pray that God will use this DVD to continue to stir interest and involvement among the “friends of FaithSearch.” We’re on reduced salary again this summer; and on summer hours, too. The office is open Tuesday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We covet your prayers that we will soon resume solid financial footing, to keep focused on  “our Father’s business.”

Now I will take a deep breath, and jump back into the queue of projects awaiting my attention, especially including but not limited to: the letter to accompany the DVD; re-editing and reprinting Surprised by Faith (in English); finalizing and printing the French language edition; and fortifying my personal support team.

Until next time…

Welcome Back

I’ve spent the last few months (barely) keeping my head above water. (There I am with the water theme again… Hmmmm.) So let’s see if I can get the hang of this blogging business. What’s on the top of my mind right now?

A friend was visiting the office today and we got to discussing (among other things) something he heard on the radio about a former pastor turned atheist. A question was raised, which he relayed to me, about whether humans are truly eternal beings, or merely temporal—unless and until they profess faith in Christ, at which point they are granted eternal life. Presumably the assumption is that if you don’t have eternal life, you are annihilated at death, not sent to eternal punishment. Continue reading

On a more personal note…

Fall Color

Fall Color

Some who read this may not be in Minnesota. Whether you are or not, no doubt you recognize the change of seasons: It’s starting to be fall here. The trees are beginning to exhibit LOTS of color (AHHHHHHH!) and there is a chill in the air at night. This is absolutely my FAVORITE season of the year.

This past weekend, Judy and I experienced parents weekend at the University of Minnesota with our younger daughter Anna. We walked all over the campus and enjoyed seeing things, some old, some new, some gone. (The building in which I worked after attending the U, Wesbrook Hall, is simply no longer there.)
